2013 Pyro Nights: 4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition - Closing Exhibition from the Philippines

Its the closing of this season's International Pyromusical Competition...and it deserves the best!

The Philippines is a non-competing entry being the host country. BUT that doesn't mean we can't. The Philippines through Platinum Fireworks, Inc. won the People's Choice Award in GlobalFest 2012 as Favourite Pyromusical Performance held in Canada, August 2012.  Also, the Philippines participated in the 15th, 16th, 17th, 21st and 22nd MACAU International Fireworks Display Contest, Macau, China where we won 3rd place in 2009 and 2010.  Can't find news for 2011 and 2012 though. 

About the finale...well, it was GRAND! the ENERGY is indescribable...fireworks on the water, fireworks coming from behind, the sides, the spiralling fireworks at the center and sides....just wow! and they're playing pop and dance tunes...try gangnam for a firework display....

T'was really a show-topper...sometimes I just sat there, forgetting to click my cam uh-oh! i was shifting from cheering, taking pictures, singing, worrying 'bout falling embers on my head...and just plain mesmerized.....

Well, taking pictures of fireworks sure is a test for timing and composition. I definitely missed the butterflies, the smiley's the gangnam shades, the flowers...got only one heart....anyway, enjoy the pictures....

2013 Pyro Nights: 4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition

Its that time of year again, when the new year...and the Chinese new year is extended for six nights of one the world's greatest pyromusical displays!

I'm a fan, despite calls from some sectors of society mindful of the release of toxic fumes and chemicals emitted on the explosion of fireworks. Yep, true. But for me, I will support banning street-fireworks on New Year's eve when the entire world is simultaneously lighting up fireworks everywhere...every street, every corner, every elsewhere. As opposed to 40 minutes divided in two sets, once a week, for just 6 days, in just one location...on the waters of Manila Bay, at a time when the hot winds of the city exits to the sea that puts natural attenuation of the atmosphere at work....

Anyway, we folks love entertainment...and the pyromusical display gets better every year, displaying increasing artistry year by year...

The 4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition opened last February 16, 2013 and ended last Saturday, March 23, 2013.  I only watched two events, missing some of the best parts I guess.  For this year, the winners are:

Grand winner: United Kingdom

1st Runner up: Canada and China

2nd Runner up: Finland

I only watched Italy, the Netherlands and Canada...and of course our very own! enjoy...
